What data permissions does Wayflyer need for my Shopify store?
What data permissions does Wayflyer need for my Shopify store?
Updated over a week ago

When you set up a connection to your Shopify store in the Wayflyer app, it gives us permission to view your:

Shopify account data

  • Products

  • Orders

  • Payouts

  • Customers

We use read-only access to understand your sales. This helps us to understand your sales performance, combined with the data from your marketing and analytics platforms.

Why does Wayflyer ask for permission to view customer information when connecting to Shopify?

As part of our underwriting process, we look at what proportion of the people buying your products are new versus returning customers. This helps us to understand the overall performance of your brand and informs our funding decision.

To do this, we access and store a very small amount of customer data - just their email address and country. Unfortunately, Shopify does not allow us to ask for your permission to only share these pieces of information.

We use a technique called “salted-hash” to store your customers’ email addresses safely in a form where we cannot:

  • View the email address itself

  • Compare it to customer data from other Wayflyer merchants
